Ciudadario

"Ciudadario" breaks down the urban landscape to re-imagine it, creating new impossible forms.
As if it were a Bestiary (In Spanish “Ciudadario” is a word game invented between city and bestiary), it compiles fantastic creatures composed of others, but instead of animals, using the buildings of the Aluche neighborhood in Madrid.

Isn't a city much more than the accumulation of its buildings?
Despite mixing social elements and architectural constructions from the world we know, the result is a visual game of shapes and connections that distance us from reality.
We are invited to reflect in this way on how architecture shapes our own lives and articulates social interaction.

The images in the exhibition are intervened analog photographs that, after being developed and enlarged in the laboratory, are embroidered with a golden thread that connects everything and that reveals to us the extraordinary nature of the most everyday landscapes of the neighborhood.
Like a monument to Symmetry, each building becomes a temple, each lady becomes a goddess.
Or maybe they already were?

As the closing of the “Ciudadario” exhibition, using some of the photographs on display, a large-format live intervention was carried out to share the process with the spectators.
